No Breakup Here | Why AI and Marketers Still Need Each Other
I’ve lost count of how many emails, conversations, and yes, real phone calls have come in asking about AI optimization. Everyone’s talking about how AI is taking over search, shaking up marketing, and rewriting the internet.
But there is no panicking in strategic, analyzed marketing…there is no breakup.
We’re in a new evolution of the relationship between humans and algorithms. AI isn’t replacing what we do; it’s reorganizing how people find what we create.
The move from traditional search engines to language models doesn’t erase everything you’ve learned…it builds on it. If you already understand the basics of SEO, you’re ahead. The structure that helps your site perform in Google (keywords, metadata, headings, and links) is the same foundation that helps large language models understand and surface your content.
The key is learning how to make your work discoverable in a world that’s moving from searching to asking. The goal is no longer just to rank high on a results page, it’s to show up as the answer when AI explains the world back to users.
If we have worked together in the past, you know I was obsessed with getting into these little queries:
This is the same set of thinking and structure. The Basics:
Nice clean foundation: Make sure your site is clean, crawlable, and clear. Headings, titles, and descriptions help both search engines and LLMs interpret your content.
Write like a human: I know you want to use AI. And sure, you can but don’t let it take your humanity. Funnily enough, AI tools prioritize clarity and context. The closer your content sounds to how people actually ask questions, the better your chances of being found.
Keep it current: I get it, you’ve got 9,0000 other things going on. I’m subject to the growing to do list too but being relevant is about having relevant, and timely, content. Update your site regularly.
Use your tools. Platforms like Google Search Console and Analytics are still your best friends. They tell you how real people (and algorithms) are interacting with what you publish.
The truth is, AI isn’t going anywhere…and neither are you. The brands and businesses that adapt, understand metrics, and lean into the tools will be the ones the algorithms love back.
Hugs,
A
